So the other day, Grease was on TV and our friend Andy is listening to some music. Well, right as John Travolta starts to sing Greased Lightning, Fergie’s London Bridge comes up on his playlist. He tells us to mute the TV and the hilarity ensues. Enjoy…

Youtube test
Just wanted to test to see if I can embed a youtube video in a blog post:
Hope it works.
UPDATE: Looks like it’s working.
I just saw on woot.com that Google is doing video ads – there was a preview for the moview “flags of our fathers” – it puzzled me that it didn’t play by default but I guess they advertiser only has to pay if a user clicks pay. I really wanna see if they’ll appear on my site so here goes:
I hope you don’t mind the lame test
Everyone’s gotta make money somehow and this is how we fund our site – thanks for understanding. I also want to test text wrapping. This should be surrounding the ad with text but we’ll see. Really I feel like I can do this because no one’s reading the blog. So if you’re reading and you feel hurt by the amount of ads, please comment.
Anyways, I’m getting 3 250GB SATA HardDrives tomorrow that I ordered from Woot during their most recent Woot Off and I’m going to build a Raid 5 array for the Media Center. We’re also planning to add an HDTV card to the media center, finish the lovesac/beanbag/couch and set up the DIY projector with the Media Center – should be a fun weekend. Enjoy yours.

Wondering how to upload images in WordPress 1.5.2? (or .x i’m guessing)
My installation did not have uploads enabled by default. You log in, go to Options –> Miscellaneous and click “Allow File Uploads.”

There are some plugins out there that allow you to upload from within the write page, but this solution works for now and is slightly easier than breaking out the old ftp client.
From this blog
I’m not sure what the etiquette on blog copying is, but my guess is that it’s frowned upon. I just wanted to play around with images in wordpress. (more on this later)
So basically, the controversial Russian music service Allofmp3.com has released a new standalone player that allows you to download and listen to any of their content for free. All you do is create an account at allofmp3.com and download and install the MusicForMasses player (which I agree looks like a 90’s winamp skin):
Then, you can login to their webpage and download any content by clicking add to basket then clicking the free tab:
The quality is 128kbs so it’s not the absolute best quality, but its great for causal listening with headphones. Another downside is you have to be online to listen, although if you really wanted to, you could record the output and save it as an mp3 as you listen to the tracks.
As with anything related to allofmp3.com it seems too good to be legal so I don’t condone using it but it is definitely a free and easy way to download a song you’re looking for.

So apparently, Apple has shipped a “small number” of iPods with a virus that affects Windows users. (Link) All I have to say is Wow. I’m just shocked.
I think maybe this is a result of Apple’s “we never get viruses” thinking. Please, if you use a mac, run virus software. If you normally use a mac and you’re using a PC, definitely run virus software. People make a big deal out of viruses and malware but if you’re proactive and have adequate security software, life is so much easier than if you wait till its too late.
My entires are slowly becoming my thoughts on the most interesting Wall Street Journal articles. I wish WSJ was paying me to hype up their paper, unfortunately I read it because I get it for free. Last Monday’s journal featured an article entitled “Fire Yourself – Then Come Back and Act Like a New Boss Would.” The premise is basically mentally putting yourself in a position of no job security such that you say to yourself “OK, let’s pretend I get fired tomorrow and they bring in a new guy to do my job and fix the problems. What would he do immediately to start fixing problems and show management he’s worthy of the position.”
I think this is an important concept for everyone. Rarely do we spend time on self evaluation. We do what we want to or what we need to and get it done as quick as possible so we can start having fun. I guess this idea of “firing yourself” is based on the idea of putting yourself in someone else’s shoes to get a fresh perspective on things. I definitely need to do this more in all areas of my life. Our website needs quite a bit of work and mostly I just need more time. However, I think it would be wise to sit down some time and say “ok if I were an average viewer, what type of content would I enjoy” or “if I were a tech savvy web guru, what would I criticize about my site”
You shouldn’t live life in the past, but you should learn from experiences to make better deicisons in the future.
